The Sabetha Commodity Credit Corporation/United States Department of Agriculture (CCC/USDA) grain bin facility was located in Sabetha, Nemaha County, Kansas. The CCC/USDA operated a five (5) acre grain storage facility in Sabetha from 1940 to about 1960. The bins have since been removed and the site is currently residential and commercial.

In May 1998 KDHE, sampled five wells in the site area. One well indicated the presence of carbon tetrachloride.

The Site Assessment unit conducted SRE field activities in September 1998. Three of the six soil samples indicated the presence of carbon tetrachloride. The CCC/USDA facility has been identified as a source for carbon tetrachloride at the site. KDHE collected groundwater samples from two private wells in Sabetha in November 2006. Concentrations of carbon tetrachloride and nitrate were below the respective MCLs in both wells.

In January 2012 KDHE requested CCC/USDA develop a sampling plan to resample private wells near former CCC/USDA grain bin Sites in Kansas where no monitoring program currently exists. CCC/USDA requested that KDHE perform the sampling, and KDHE prepared/approved a Private Well Sampling Plan in December 2012 for the Site. KDHE implemented the CCC/USDA-sponsored Private Well Sampling Plan for the Site in February 2013. A Private Well Sampling Report was completed in May 2014. KDHE has requested USDA/CCC consider resampling the domestic wells.
