Site Narrative:
The Deluxe Laundry and Dry Cleaners site was referred to KDHE's Site Assessment Unit by EPA because of a court case regarding environmental testing at the National Compressed Steel facility. Laboratory results of groundwater samples collected at the site during an SRE conducted in 2000 indicated that PCE and associated degradation compounds detected at the site were migrating from up-gradient of the site.
A Site Inspection (SI) detected PCE in ground water sampled at a former dry cleaning facility located one block upgradient of the National Compressed Steel facility.
Site was then transferred to Kansas Drycleaning Program due to the source of PCE contamination being a former retail drycleaning facility. Deluxe Laundry and Dry Cleaners was located at 901 S. 7th Street Trfy.
In November 2018, a preliminary groundwater investigation was completed. Only one probe location, GW-6 at 15.1 ug/L, contained PCE above the MCL (5 ug/L). |
